Geraldine "Gerri" Davis

Geraldine "Gerri" Davis of Louisville, Kentucky, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 14, 2025. She was born on April 24, 1948, in Huntsville, Alabama, to Pastor Floyd Moore and Odessa Jones (Eugene Jones-Stepfather).

Gerri accepted Christ at a very young age. She joined Sweet Leaf U.P. Baptist Church and was a devoted member, serving as both a choir director and choir member, directing plays, and teaching Sunday School.

Gerri moved to Louisville, Kentucky at a young age and attended Shawnee High School, where she graduated in 1966. She went on to work for the Jefferson County Public School system for 27 years, beginning at Parkland Junior High/Lyman T. Johnson, before moving to an office position at Gheens Academy, where she retired.

In 1969, Gerri married William "Billy" Davis Sr. Together, they had three children: Lamont Jones, Autrice Davis, and William "Nicky" Davis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Terri Lynn Slade, and her children, Lamont Jones and Autrice Davis. 

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, William "Nicky" Davis; two brothers, Eugene "Buggy" Jones and Dr. Daniel Moore (Betty Moore); her grandchildren, Autrice Jones, Brandon Davis, Nikaya Oliver, Jacoby Johnson, and Adacyia Jones; and her great-grandchildren, Kalaiah Rogers and Bali Davis. She also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and friends.

Gerri was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who loved the Lord. Her life was grounded in faith and filled with love, and her warmth and steady presence leave a legacy of kindness and strength that her family and friends will forever cherish.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sweet Leaf U.P. Baptist Church, 1814 Cedar Street, Louisville, Kentucky. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Sweet Leaf U.P. Baptist Church will burial to follow at Green Meadows Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
