Gerald Bline, 92, passed away on September 10, 2026, in New Albany. He was born on July 29, 1934, in New Albany, Indiana.
Gerald attended classes at New Albany High School and went on to build a life marked by steady work and dedication. He worked diligently as a service technician for Staple Endres Heating Air, bringing commitment and reliability to his profession. He also proudly served in the Army during the Korean War, a chapter of his life that reflected his sense of duty and service.
He will be remembered as a hardworking, honest, straightforward, and very simple man. Compassionate and loving to his friends and family, Gerald found joy in life’s familiar pleasures. He enjoyed playing poker and horseshoes, listening to old country music and gospel music, riding around in the country, and, above all, spending time with his family.
Gerald leaves behind his sons, Timothy Bline (Leslie) and John M. Roberts. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Eric Bline and his wife, Riki; Michael Bline; and Thomas Bline; as well as six great-grandchildren.
Gerald will also be lovingly remembered by his relatives and caregivers, Paula Cruze, Clifton Swift, and Donna Swift, along with many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
The love of his family was an important part of Gerald’s life, and his memory will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him through the stories they share, the memories they cherish, and the time they spent together.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Bline; his mother, Alice Bline; his brothers Joseph Bline, John Bline, Sr., Jim Bline, Paul Bline, Sr., and Jack Bline; and his sisters Jessie Wilson, Charlotte Rutkowski, and June Boley.
Visitation will be held on September 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. A funeral service will follow there at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place later that day at 2:30 p.m. at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 Msh N Ln, Madison, IN 47250.
Gerald Bline’s life was defined by work, service, music, simple pleasures, and devotion to those he loved. He will be remembered with respect, affection, and gratitude.
