Gerald Louis "Gerry" Barker, 84, of Louisville, KY, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025. Born on April 17, 1941, He was the son of the late Martin Edgar Barker and Viola Marie Barker. Gerry served four years in the United States Air Force as an Airman Second Class, including an assignment at Strategic Air Command (SAC) Headquarters. After his military service, Gerry worked at American Standard before dedicating 28 years of his professional life to Vermont American (Bosch).
Gerry was preceded in death by siblings, Donald Barker, Martina Aldred (Mike), Norman Barker (Alleene), Juanita Fahey (Larry), Shirley Conn (Ed), and Janice Wolford (Jack).
Gerry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cynthia L. Barker. He is also survived by a former spouse, Diane A. Samuelson. Gerry was the beloved father of six children, Lisa Maria Barker (Keith), Theresa Anne Sheridan (Lance), Gerald Michael Barker (Cindy), John David Barker (Carmen), James Daniel Barker (Jennie), and Marc Allan Barker (Charity).
Gerry was a proud grandfather to 18 grandchildren, Candie Paige, Amanda Marie, Kristen, Asia, Melody, Thomas, Nicole, Benjamin, Cecily, Jacob, Vadya, Serena, Layla, Logan, Charles, Allie, Leon, and Claire. He also cherished his 13 great-grandchildren.
Surviving siblings include Mary Helen Corbett (Pete), Del Barker, Denny Barker (Pam), Ronnie Barker (Janice), and Alan Barker (Debbie).
Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 10am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1000 N. Beckley Station Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40245. Burial will follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
