Georgetta McCarty Edison, 68, of Mount Washington, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022. She was born on October 16, 1953 in Evansville, Indiana to Roy and Margaret (Thrasher) McCarty. She is preceded in death by her Father, Roy McCarty and Mother, Margaret McCarty.
Georgetta was a loving wife, mom, grammie, sister, and friend. She loved reading, teaching, bunco, crocheting, traveling, photography and music. She earned several belts while she practiced tae kwon do for 10 years. Genealogy was a passion of hers. Also an author, Georgie wrote a manuscript titled "Asking for It." She loved all of her furbabies and was an avid UK fan. She served on the PRP High School Reunion Committee-Class of 1971. Georgetta started her nursing career in 1973 as an LPN; went on to become an RN and completed her BSN. She was proud to hold many nursing positions at St. Joseph's Hospital, Audubon Hospital, Frazier Rehab, Caretenders and Fresenius, and gave all of her patients the highest level of care. Most recently, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a teacher with VIP Kid.
Georgetta is survived by her loving Husband of 16 years, Allen Edison; Children, Jennifer (Brian) Grubbs, Rachel (Robert) Maguire, and Andrea (Nathan) Richey; Grandchildren, Mya Maguire, Aiden Grubbs, and Arven Richey; siblings, Roycia (Charles) Buckley, Mary (Greg) Bolton, and Ruby (John) Selvage; goddaughter, Katherine Selvage; Sister-In-Law's, Donna Collard and Kathy (Curtis) Bentley; godparents, Wayne (Nita) Wimpee; Friend, Diana Price, Friend, Debbie (Tim) Krekel as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm on Monday, January 10, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Funeral Service will be at 12:30 pm on Monday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
