George William Vertrees, 73, passed away on January 15, 2016. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, beautiful women, horse racing, but most of all his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Mildred Vertrees; brothers, Wally, Carl and Donald Vertrees and sisters, Mary Basham, Carolyn Higdon, Sarah Troutman, Hazel Clan, Betty Kintner and Ellen Adinolfi.
George is survived by his sons, Michael (Shauna)Reynolds and Curtis Reynolds, daughters, Cristen Reynolds and Debbie Reynolds; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Andy (Sandy)Vertrees; sisters, Barbara (Roger) Hicks, Gilberta (Don) Burris, Becky (Ray) Damron and Liz Hoyland; brother-in-laws, Rubel Basham and Richie Adinolfi, numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends, Sammy Entenman, Mike Higdon, Bobby "Fat Boy", Michael Hilton, John Habech, John Gerstle, John Dechum, Jim Demyer, Doug and Dean Mulhall, Chuck Miller and Johnny Basham, Jr.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway) from 1pm-6pm with a celebration of George's life beginning at 6pm.
