On Thursday, August 14, our Dad, George Edward Webb, Junior, left us to rejoin our Mom.
Father was born on July 31, 1937, to George Edward Webb and Dorothy (Barr) Webb in Freeport, IL. He graduated medical school with honors from the University of Illinois Professional Colleges, Chicago, IL in 1962. He served in the Air Force from 1963 to 1965 at McConnell AFB in Wichita, KS. After finishing his residency at the University of Wisconsin, he worked as an anesthesiologist and educator for 28 years, when he entered his second act as a palliative care and hospice physician. And what a second act, he spent the next 25 plus years as a medical director, board member, educator and author dedicating himself to end of life issues.
He married Patricia (Blaser) on March 17, 1961, after meeting in Chicago while they were both in school. She passed away in 2020, having celebrated her 59th anniversary with Father. Besides his wife, he was pre-deceased by his father in 1964, his sister Barbara Jean Webb in 1978 and his mother in 1986. He is survived by his son, Jeff, his daughter, Diane, granddaughter Ella (Webb) Perry, grandsons C.J Burton and Noah Webb, and great-grandchildren Nicholas Webb and Elena Perry.
Father was so much more than a parent and medical doctor. He was a musician, painter, sculptor, dancer and a prodigious grower of orchids. He loved going to baseball games. A celebration of life will be planned in the future. Donations can be made to Hildegard House or Hosparus of Louisville.
A memorial to share remembrances and celebrate George's life will be held October 11th from 1-3 p.m. at Walden School, 4238 Westport Road, Louisville, KY.
