George was born in a rural area of Breckinridge CO.(Glen Dean) to Sallie Robertson and John Fisher Moorman. He attended a one-room school in Glen Dean (Utopia College) through the 8th grade. He rode horseback to school and studied at home by his kerosene lamp at night. He graduated from Breckinridge CO. High School in Hardinsburg in 1938 and went on to Western Kentucky College. He was a WWII Army veteran enlisting in 1942 and staying until the end of the War. It was during his Army service that he met a young girl, Frances Kyle-the love of his long life and wife of 72 years. After marrying Frances he moved to Louisville, where he worked at Fawcett Dearing Printing, Reynolds Metals, and retired from Naval Ordinance Station in 1983. As a young boy George was a member of Goshen Baptist Church. He became a member of Valley Station Baptist in 1956, and served as a longtime deacon there. George was greatly devoted to his Lord, Jesus Christ, his Church, his wife, his family and his Country. He enjoyed gardening, especially tending to his beautiful rose garden which included offshoots from the roses his father had given to his mother when they were courting at the turn of the century.
Preceding George in death was his wife of 72 years, Frances.
Survivors include his children; son William (Leslie), daughter Shawna, and son Kyle (Kim); 4 grandchildren: Sallie Ruff, Lindsay Cassaro, Tristan Moorman and Kelsey Moorman and four great grand children.
