George E. Glassner, 75, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
He was born on December 11, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky to Edward and Mary (Herdt) Glassner. George was a graduate of DeSales High School, class of 1964, and attended the University of Louisville. He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. George was a Kentucky Colonel and was commissioned in 1976. He retired from Brown and Williamson as a Manager of Corporate Services, working from 1977 to 2001. George was an avid U of L Fan, he also loved his motorcycle and traveling numerous times across the country over the years. He never met a stranger and was the life of the party, George was one of a kind. George was known by many names from Dad to Pappy, Papa Georgio, Paw Paw, and Paw Paw G.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edward H Glassner; mother, Mary L Glassner; and sister, Donna Vest.
George is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Glassner; son, Tony Glassner (Jen); daughter, Tracy Knight (Kenny); step-daughters, Brittney (Jerry) and Somer (Steve); grandchildren, Shane, Alayna, Bereket, Madelyn, Tucker, and Matthew; sisters, Patricia Bridges (Buddy) and Linda Vance; brothers, Dennis Glassner (Janet) and Victor Glassner (Barbara); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions-East Louisville Chapel, (235 Juneau Dr.). A celebration of George's life will follow at 6:00 pm on Friday, at the funeral home.
The family requests that contributions in George's memory be made to Hosparus of Louisville or Hildegard House.
