George "Dub" William Jansing, a beloved figure whose life was marked by kindness, devotion, and a passion for knowledge, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, on March 2, 1946, Dub’s journey was one of distinguished service, deep affection for his loved ones, and a passionate dedication to both education and community.
George earned his Master’s Degree in English from the University of Louisville, a testament to his lifelong love of literature and learning. His professional career was notably centered at Kentucky Country Day School, where he invested his heart and intellect into nurturing generations of students. Beyond the walls of academia, Dub was an avid reader, a spirited tennis player, and a devoted dog lover – qualities that endeared him to many and painted a portrait of a man who embraced life with both zeal and grace.
His service to his country was both honorable and courageous. Having served in Vietnam, Dub was awarded the Bronze Star for his valor, a symbol of his unwavering commitment and extraordinary bravery. This chapter of his life stands as a profound illustration of his character—resolute, humble, and selfless.
Yet, perhaps the proudest achievement of his life was being a father. He is survived by his cherished wife, Linda B. Jansing, whose partnership brought joy and strength through the years; their daughter, Sarah K. Jansing; and their son, Joel O. Jansing, along with Joel’s wife, Jennifer. The legacy of his love and guidance extends through his grandchildren, Nathan and Allison Jansing, who carry forward his spirit and values. Additionally, his sister JoAnn Jansing of OSU holds a place in the tapestry of his family’s enduring bonds.
George’s passage marks the conclusion of a lineage touched by his presence, as he was preceded in death by his father, George F. Jansing; mother, Irene W. Jansing; and brothers, David A. Jansing and Charles I. Jansing. Their memories, and the life he forged in their shadow, remain integral to understanding the breadth of his journey.
The community will gather to honor George's memory at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243. The visitation will be held on April 20, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. These moments of reflection and celebration will offer solace to those who cherish him and afford a fitting tribute to a man who lived with humor, kindness, and boundless love.
George "Dub" William Jansing leaves behind a world enriched by his presence—a life well-lived, a heart generously given, and an example deeply imprinted upon all who knew him. His story, woven with courage and compassion, remains a beacon of the enduring power of kindness, learning, and family.
