George D. Brown, 94, of Clarksville, Indiana, died peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2021. He was born on September 8, 1927, in Uniontown, Kentucky, to the late George Brown and Mary Margaret Drury. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons, Kenneth and Alan; 5 brothers; and a sister.
George is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, N. Jeane Brown; daughters, Gayle Driver, Diane Green (Mary) of Clarksville, Indiana, and Elaine Palmer (Mike) of North Ft. Myers, Florida; son, Jeff of New Albany, Indiana; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
George attended Lockyear Business College, IUS, Bellarmine, and UofL. He was a CPA/Treasurer at WFIE TV in Evansville and WAVE TV in Louisville and, later, Vice President/Treasurer at Duling Optical. When he retired, he volunteered every Friday at The Community Kitchen in Jeffersonville for over 20 years and was Director/Treasurer for 10 years. George helped start the Franciscan Kitchen in Louisville and was made a Kentucky Colonel for his work with the Leukemia Society. George was a true gentleman and respected by all. He played golf until he was 90 and enjoyed gardening.
His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (316 North Sherwood Avenue, Clarksville, IN 47129). Cremation was chosen following George's wishes, and he will be laid to rest at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
