George Edward Belden, age 77, a cherished husband and devoted family man from Underwood, Indiana, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, August 8, 2026. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, George was also a dedicated employee at Humana and the Brown Hotel. He enjoyed playing the harmonica, fishing, and testing his luck at the slot machines. Known for his vibrant personality, George loved to sing and dance and also found joy tending to his beloved 10-acre farm and its animals.
Born on June 26, 1949, in Brooks, Kentucky, to the late James and JoAnna (Vineyard) Belden, George was also preceded in death by his brother, Jim, and sisters, JoAnn and Judy.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosina Stewart-Belden; daughters, Rhonda Belden, Kimberly Bruce (Steven, Sr.), Angela Belden, and Angela Brown-Hampton; grandchildren, Ashley DeHaven (Tony), Frank DeHaven, Jr., Hannah Bruce (Jon), Steven Bruce, Jr. (Haley), Nathaniel Bruce; and great-grandchildren, Colton, Jimmie, Riley, and Skyler. He is also survived by his brothers, Donald Belden and Butch Belden, and his sister, Linda Drury (Dale).
George's wish was to be cremated. Family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with a service celebrating his life beginning at 1:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest with military honors at New Albany National Cemetery.
