Geneva (Fitch) Curl

Geneva (Fitch) Curl, a cherished Mother, Mammaw, Mams, and Granny, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the age of 98. Geneva’s life spanned nearly a century, during which she touched the hearts of all who knew her with her kindness, steadfast faith, and deep devotion to her family.

Geneva was a beloved daughter of William and Edyth (Brown) Fitch, born in Crawford County, Indiana on August 30, 1927. In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Paul, her sisters, Crystal June Fitch, Lagatha Fern Knight and Jewel Genevieve Curl, and her brother, Wheeler Oval Fitch.

Geneva was a guiding light in the lives of her daughters, Linda Leatherland and Brenda Davis. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: D'Wayne Leatherland, Dale Bandy (Jennifer), Paula Leatherland, Staci Leatherland (Joe), and Tony Bandy (Dawn), as well as a host of cherished great-grandchildren including Caedyn, Lacey (Zach), McKenna, Tori, Alexis, Hailey (Axel), Megan, Nathan, Kala, Haley (Nick), Levi, Garrett, and her great-great-grandchildren, Adalynn, Triptynn, Daeveni, Ella, Elias, and Harley.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Visitation will continue on Sunday after 12:00 p.m. with Geneva's funeral service taking place at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mifflin Cemetery in English, Indiana.
