Listen to Obituary

Finis Eugene Ward, 71, of Mount Washington, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Gene was a fun-loving, kind-hearted man who brought joy and laughter to everyone around him. Known affectionately as the "Jolly Green Giant," he had a presence that filled every room-not just because of his size, but because of his huge heart and infectious personality. Gene was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of over 40 years, with whom he shared countless adventures and quiet moments alike. They especially loved spending time together at Rough River, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Gene also shared a special bond with his wife's sons, Keith and Larry, who he loved as his own.

A true motorcycle enthusiast, Gene found joy on the open road. He also had a deep love for movies and could often be found relaxing with a good film. But more than anything, Gene loved spending time with his family and friends-laughing, telling stories, and just enjoying the company of those he cared about. If you ever had dinner at Gene's house, you knew the tradition: when it was time to call him, you had to yell and not just a soft call. It had to be loud enough to carry through the house, because Gene wouldn't hear you otherwise. It was all part of his charm. Gene was the kind of man who made people feel welcome, made them laugh, and made life better just by being in it. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him

He was born on March 1, 1954 in Louisville, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Anna F. Horn, Wife, Betty Jean Ward, Son, William K. Caulk, and Sister, Cindy Horn.

Gene is survived by his loving family, Dad, Edward Thomas Horn; Son, Larry G. Caulk; Daughter, Casey Emburg: Sister, Paula Horn, as well as a host of family and friends to cherish his memory forever.

The family requests that contributions in Gene’s memory be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or a local Humane Society.
