Gene Rodgers Sanders, 77, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022.

He was born on April 14, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky to Clarence and Inez (Bauer) Sanders. He honorably served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam era. He was a Car Hauler for many years until his retirement in 2003. Gene lived to GOLF!! He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Margaret Townsend Sanders and daughter, Kathy Fleig.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Deborah D. Sanders; daughter, Becky (Russell) Cox; daughter, Kelly Grawemeyer; son, Leonard Adkins; daughter, Amanda (Barry) Ambrose; 11 grandchildren, Jordan (John) O'Connell, Corey (Kylee) Fleig, Presley Grawemeyer, Chayse Vincent, Erin Downs, Danielle Turner, Shelby (Aaron) Mills, Trevor Watkins, L.B. Adkins, Olivia Adkins, Carrie Adkins; 4 great great grandchildren, Riley, Calum, Bonnie Kate & Maddox; brother, Rick (Peggy) Sanders; brother, Sonny (Viola) Sanders; sister, Joyce Eggers; sister, Caroline (Billy) Dearing; brother, Mike (Kim) Sanders; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
