Gene Charles Reynolds

Gene Charles Reynolds, age 85, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Gene was a loving and devoted father, brother, and beloved Papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known for his wonderful storytelling and great sense of humor, Gene brought joy to many through his zest for life. He enjoyed outings to the movies, time spent on the boat, and playing BINGO.

Gene was an inspiring individual who dedicated himself to personal growth and recovery, attending various AA meetings and proudly celebrating over 30 years of sobriety. Among his fondest memories were the special moments shared with his daughter, Lesa, particularly the delicious meatloaf she made. Those who had the honor of knowing Gene will remember him dearly and miss him greatly.

Born on April 6, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky, Gene was preceded in death by his father, Bernie Reynolds; mother, Helen G. Reynolds; brother, Billy Reynolds; sisters, June Blair and Mary Katherine Reynolds; and the mother of his children, Madeline Reynolds.

Gene is survived by his loving family, including his daughter Lesa (Truman) Hogue; sons Steven Reynolds and Dennis (Brenda) Reynolds; siblings Joyce Hatfield and Wanda (Bobby) Clark; grandchildren Brandon Reynolds, Justin (Taylor) Hogue, Steven (Taryn) Reynolds, Jr., Cory (Matt) Reynolds, Zachary (Taylor) Reynolds, Colston Reynolds, Savannah (Cole), and Ashton; as well as great-grandchildren Gracen Reynolds, Gabriella Reynolds, Skylar Reynolds, Arya Hogue, Ezra Hogue, and two additional great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends who will cherish his loving memory forever.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family kindly requests that contributions in Gene’s memory be made to a recovery center of your choice.
