Gary James Phillips, Sr.

Gary James Phillips, Sr., age 74 of Louisville, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021. Gary was born on July 14, 1947 to the late James Walter Phillips, Sr. and Alma Elizabeth Collins Phillips. He was an Army Veteran. He worked along his father as a brick mason and later in life worked in security services. He was a Baptist by faith, enjoyed basketball, baseball and wrestling. He was also preceded in death by wife, Flora "Flo" Phillips; two sisters, Glenda Kay Cradic and Deborah Ann Johnson.

Gary is survived by his children, Lisa Peak (Matt), Ladonna Compton (Mark), Gary James Jr.; 6 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Linda Sue Land (Glenn), Vanessa Cox (Russell) and Penny Pennington (Eddie); brother, James W. Phillips, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends and family.

A gathering to remember Gary's life will be from 12 to 1pm on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. Graveside services will be at 2pm Monday, November 8th in St. Matthew Mausoleum Chapel at Evergreen Cemetery, 4623 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY 40213.
