Gary Lee Cottrill

Gary Lee Cottrill , 59, of New Albany, Indiana was called home on Sunday, May 24, 2015. He was born on November 2, 1955 in Louisville, Kentucky to Walter Cottrill and Rita Cottrill (Ballou). Gary worked as a Financial Aid Director at Ivy Tech in Sellersburg, Indiana for over 31 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Albany, Indiana, where he was an active member of the Liturgy committee. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Along with his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Frances Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Marilyn (Franks) Cottrill; sons, Evan and Austin Cottrill; two half-brothers, Dennis Cottrill (Mary) and Charles Cottrill (Laurie); sister-in-law, Sharon Franks; brothers-in-law, Donald (Eileen) Franks and David (Diane) Franks; along with many cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and his many long-time friends, friars and brothers from Mount St. Francis.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 11 to 8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His Funeral Service will be on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff at the Norton Cancer Institute in Louisville, Kentucky for all their loving care and support and the Multiple Myeloma Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
