Gary Lee Lathem Sr. was born on October 28, 1967, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He passed away on February 15, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. Gary lived a life marked by dedication and hard work, notably as a repo man who contracted with various automotive companies for many years. His relentless commitment to his career was matched only by his profound dedication to his family and friends.
Gary was educated at Shawnee High School and carried the values instilled in him throughout his life. Known for his honest, hardworking, and straightforward nature, he was a devoted father, loyal son, brother, and friend. His personality resonated well with those around him, highlighting a life spent putting others first. He cherished time with family, enjoying hobbies such as playing cards, fishing, walking, and being outdoors.
He is survived by his mother, Bonnie Lathem; his sons, Daniel Neal, Jordan Wright, Gary Lathem Jr., Cory Lathem, Zack Lathem, Justice Lathem, Jayden Lathem, and Damon Lathem; his daughters, Brandi Lathem and Kelsey Lathem; and his grandchildren, Luke, Jason, Daniel, Michael, Aiden, Cameron, Neveah, Isaiah, Tyler, and Kayson. He is also remembered by his sister, Rachel (Dennis) Thomas, and his sister-in-law, Anna Lathem.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Larry T. Lathem Sr.; his daughter, Amanda Amburgy; and his brother, Larry Lathem Jr.
A visitation will be held on February 23, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. This will be followed by a funeral service starting at 12:00 PM, concluding at 12:30 PM on the same day, with burial to follow at Hibernia Cemetery.
Gary's proudest accomplishments were centered around watching his children grow and thrive, a testament to the love and support he instilled in his family. His legacy will live on through the memories shared by all who knew him.
