Gary Gene Houchen

December 6, 1946 — April 27, 2019

Gary Gene Houchen, 72, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on April 27, 2019. He was a graduate of Henryville High School and a United States Army veteran. Gary worked as a sales manager for several local companies, including Coca-Cola, RC Cola and the Dr. Pepper-Snapple Group. He played on the Zeppelin softball team throughout the years and was known for his love of the game. Gary was also actively involved in the Holy Family Catholic Church Theater Group for over 25 years.

He was born on December 6, 1946 in Scottsburg, Indiana, to the late Herschel Houchen and Joan (Neville) Houchen Aldridge. Gary was also preceded in death by his step-father, Oscar Aldridge.

Gary is survived by his son, Ryan Houchen (Amanda Davis-Houchen); brother, Mel Houchen; sister, Benita Houchen; and grandchildren, Sophia Reisert and Henry Houchen.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Cremation will follow according to Gary's wishes and he will be laid to rest privately at New Albany National Cemetery.
