Gary Peyton Hall, 71, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. He was a United States Army veteran and had a decorated career in law enforcement that spanned several decades and included being the long-time Chief of Police in Clarksville. Gary was also a professor at Indiana University Southeast. He enjoyed bowling, traveling, and spending time outdoors camping and fishing. After retiring, Gary began volunteering at several local nursing homes where he shared his love for karaoke.
He was born on December 31, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Matthew and Margaret (Lotze) Hall. Gary was also preceded in death by his son, Matthew Hall.
Gary is survived by his wife, Melody Hall; brother, Jerry Hall; stepchildren, Brandon, Tiffany, and Angela Burk, and Mark and Matthew Palmer; grandchildren, Logan, Hayden, and Savannah Hall, Alex Diaz, Harrison Cortez, Elijah Burk, and Hannah and Ally Palmer.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 11:00 a.m. His funeral service with military honors will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Monday in the chapel at the funeral home with cremation to follow according to Gary's wishes.
