Gary Wayne Gritton, Sr., age 81, went home for Christmas to be with his Lord and Savior on December 25, 2017. He is survived and loved by his 4 children, Angela Gritton Clevenger, Theresa Gritton Bolden, Gary Wayne Gritton, Jr. and Stephanie Gritton Hager; loving mother to his children, Marty Joyce Gritton; son-in-law, Mark Clevenger; 10 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Gary was born on January 1, 1936 to the late William Cecil Gritton and Gay Nell Chandler in Corbin, Kentucky. He graduated from St. Camillus Academy, completed his machinist apprenticeship with L&N Railroad, was a member of the National Guard and retired from CSX Railroad as Area Manager in Huntington, WV in 2004.
Gary, was an inventor who enjoyed creating and working with his hands. He enjoyed boating, camping, basketball, home renovations, fishing, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered by his children as a man who loved Jesus Christ and daily bible study, was a great communicator, followed his dreams and taught the importance of laughter, creativity and the magic of always saying "I love you".
A celebration of Gary's life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Duncan Memorial Chapel 5600 Old Floydsburg Rd, Crestwood, KY 40014. Visitation will follow at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Parkway, in the Fireside room from 1-3pm.
