Galen Ray Harper, age 68, passed away on Thursday, August 29th, 2019 at the Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born on 6/29/1951 at Scott Community Hospital in Scott City, KS. He was the youngest son of Norman and Mary Harmon Harper. A resident of Louisville, KY where he worked as a Field Engineer for many trade companies.
He was an avid hunter and routinely included his best friends on hunts. He loved all his children and grandchildren, evident by the mementos he kept close to him. He was a brilliant mind when it came to construction and engineering. He also dearly loved having a pond around to enjoy fish and water plants. When the Harper boys were young, he enjoyed flying his 4-seater Beechcraft around and performing touch downs on Highway 4. He was always adventurous and mischievous reliving all the stories at family gatherings was a great time. He always helped those close to him with many projects and moved his kids/family around more times than one can count.Galen studied at Wichita State University and even worked for the Peace Core. He enjoyed traveling the country and searching for new adventures he had amazing friends all over the world and was always looking to add more. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.
Galen is survived by his siste,r Mariel (Dave) Weigers, Goodland, KS.; 4 sons from his marriage to Diana Gardner Brandt, Shane (Tara) Harper, Ingalls, KS., C.W. (Lisa Marie) Harper, Scott City, KS., Lee (Chie) Harper, Olathe, KS. and Garrett (Humbelina) Harper, Lawrence, KS.; surrogate father to 3 sons and two daughters with fiancé Tiffany Howard, Tyler (Kelsie) Howard, Harley, Hailey, Madison and Kenzie Howard Louisville, KY.; 14 Grandchildren, Katherine, Isaac, Granten, Solomon (Shane) , Teagan, Chewie (C.W.), Erik, Henry (Lee), Joaquin, Sofia, Aurora, Adelina Harper (Garrett). Kayley and Kamden Howard (Tyler).
Private Service to be held by family and friends at a later date.
