Gail Jean English, 67, answered the call from her Heavenly Father on August 30, 2021. She was born on July 6, 1954, in Louisville, KY, to her mother, Ruby L. Davis and her father, James Davis, Jr. She united in marriage to Frank English. Gail was a member of Taylortown A.M.E. Zion Church, were she grew up as a child. She enjoyed spending time with her family and singing in the choir, that was directed by her grandmother. Gail retired as a clerk with the Planning Zoning Commission. She enjoyed her job and also loved to play BINGO. She was a devoted UofL fan and loved watching football and basketball games.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank English; mother, Ruby Davis and brother, Ronald.
Gail's most precious time was spent with her children, Ryan (Anita) Davis, Damon and Michele Lewis; step-children, Dewone Jackson, Debbie and Anthony English; father, James (Thelma) Davis, Jr; sisters, Pam and Carol (Dominic); grandchildren, Chasity, Devan, Isaiah, Desirae, Tajia, Ryan, Jr, Jakari, Ryanna and Baleigh; 3 great-grandchildren; a special friend, which she treated as another daughter, Angela Smith; a niece and a host of nephews, cousins and friends.
Gail will truly be missed by all who loved her. She would always sing "The Lord is Blessing Me" and she would always say "God blessed me to see another day and for that I am truly grateful." Amen!
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 11am-1pm with a celebration of Gail's life beginning at 1pm.
Gail will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY.
