Gail L. Burns, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and respected member of her community, passed away on April 18, 2026, in her hometown of Jeffersonville, Indiana. Born on January 13, 1941, in Jeffersonville, she lived a life marked by dedication to both her family and her work.
Gail attended Jeffersonville High School, where she laid the foundation for a life characterized by commitment and humility. For many years, she worked diligently in housekeeping at Clark Memorial Hospital, contributing to the care and comfort of patients and staff with her unwavering work ethic and kindly spirit.
Outside of her professional life, Gail embraced her love of gardening, working in her yard, and tended to the family farm with joy and perseverance. These activities were not only hobbies but reflections of her nurturing nature and deep connection to the earth and her heritage.
Her greatest pride and joy were her beloved family. Gail is survived by her daughter, Shawna Voyles; her son, Mark Edward Burns, and his wife, Lisa; as well as her grandchildren BJ, Cayla (and Andrew), Ashton (and Josh), Julie (and Josh), and Jennifer. She also delighted in the lives of her great-grandchildren Brad, Riley, Adyson, Bentley, Colt, Dominic, Jesse, Selena, Jose, Pita, Trenton, Lila, and Sophie. Her extended family includes numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends who will carry forward her memory with love and respect.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Elizabeth Frazure; her grandson Jacob Carver; and her siblings: Earl (Wilma), Fred (Patricia), Jimmy Lee (Nancy), and Betty Ann Frazure; as well as her son-in-law, Jerry Voyles.
Throughout her life, Gail L. Burns embodied qualities of hard work, kindness, and steadfast devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy defined by the warmth of her care and the strength of her character. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those she loved so dearly.
It was Gail's wishes to be cremated with no services.
