Frederick Emmanuel Douglas

Frederick Emmanuel Douglas, 100, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018. He enjoyed raising quails, served as lead deacon for 40 years at the Second Baptist Church, and was the co-founder of the Thomas English Elks Lodge as Exalted Ruler.

Fred was born on June 28, 1918, in Robertson County, Tennessee, to the late Robert L. and Jessie (Miles) Douglas. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Luna (Taylor) Douglas; son, Robert Douglas; daughter, Irene Smith; brother, Harold Douglas; and sister, Eunice Walker.

Fred is survived by his children, Isreal Douglas (Dillie), Cyrila Douglas, Claybon Douglas (Juanita), Rayburn Douglas (Janice), and James Douglas (Carol); daughter-in-law, Martha Douglas; son-in-law, Clyde Smith; 34 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018, at Second Baptist Church (300 East Main Street, New Albany, Indiana 47150) with his Funeral Service beginning at 12:00 p.m. and entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
