Franklyn Paul Soldo

Franklyn Paul Soldo, 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020.

He was born on September 4, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Alfred and Lillian (Musso) Soldo.

On Monday, we lost a remarkable artist, entertainer, and war hero. More importantly however, the family lost a fantastic husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Franklyn Soldo was a tremendous person who was as suave as he was personable. He was passionate, loving, and humorous. From being captured at the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir, to penning his own plays, he lived the life of 10 men.

He always told stories about resettling Jews after WWII, or the chaos of Turkish ports in the 50s. He also spoke at length about his time in Korea, and his animated recollections of Hollywood's golden era.
He displayed an indefatigable love for his wife Carole, as well as the genuine pride he took in his children and their own.

It's said that in an ideal situation we enter the world surrounded by those we love and, if fortunate, leave it in a manner that is no different. He exited in a manner as one should; peacefully encircled by those who mattered most.

Franklyn is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carole Mae Soldo, sons, Terrance Lee Soldo (Deborah), Frank "Buddy" Alfred Soldo (Toni), Richard Gene Soldo (Kimberlee), daughters, Desiree Beth Soldo, Michelle Marie Soldo, Lisa Kaye Soldo-Johnson (Duane), as well as numerous grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church (1000 N Beckley Station Rd, Louisville, KY 40245) with Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m.

The family requests that contributions in Franklyn's memory be made to Mass of the Air (1200 S. Shelby Street Louisville, KY 40203.)
