Francis Richard Lenahan, 78, loving husband, father, and grandfather of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018. He was a United States Army veteran and retiree from the Veteran's Administration in Louisville. Richard enjoyed reading and spending time with his granddaughters. Considered a friend by many, Richard always went out of his way to help others, especially veterans.
He was born on September 24, 1939, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Francis E. and Ruth (Roehrig) Lenahan. Richard is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Carolyn (Johnson) Lenahan; children, Keith Lenahan (Paula) and Ann Marie Miller; siblings, Charles Lenahan (Martha) and Ann Smith (Ron); grandchildren, Rick Wohlleb, Molly Lenahan, Rileigh Heath, and Allie Miller; and nieces and nephews, Brian Smith (Becky), Lisa Beck (Ken), and Charles D. Lenahan.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 11:00 a.m. His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Private burial with military honors will take place at a later date at New Albany National Cemetery.
