Frances Virginia (Cox) Sweeney

Frances Virginia (Cox) Sweeney, 88, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on January 31, 2017. She was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky, on March 3, 1928, to Jake and Flossie (Conder) Cox. Frances worked as a cashier for A&P Food Market for many years and was a member of Ninth and O Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, playing cards, especially rummy, camping, and mowing the lawn.

Along with her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Sweeney; and a son , James M. Sweeney II. She is survived by her loving children, Don Sweeney (Sandy) and Rebecca McCarty (Mike); her brother, Norwood Cox (Carolyn); sister-in-law, Linda Cox; 5 grandchildren, Kim Park, Chris Minnick, Keith McCarty, Brian Sweeney, and Jeff Sweeney; along with 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). Her Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home with visitation before from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
