Frances Maxine Hammond Peper, 84, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020. Maxine worked as a seamstress at Seinshimer and Company for many years before moving on to the health care industry. She was a licensed practical nurse at Clark Memorial Health for over 18 years. Maxine loved to crochet, play Bingo, had a passion for travel, and was known for her legendary Lemon Meringue Pie.
She was born on May 20, 1935, in English, Indiana, to the late Francis Hammond and Maude Pierson Jones. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Peper; and sister, Eloise Hughes.
Maxine is survived by her children, Debbie (Mark) Maschmeyer, Jennifer Peper, Pam (Jeff) Collins, and David (Barbara) Peper; grandchildren, Amanda (Mathew) Smith, Rachel (Steven) Collins, Daniel Collins, and Marissa (Jason) Harvey; great-grandchildren, David and Daniel Peper; and was awaiting her third great-grandson, S. John Stafford.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
