Frances Marie Campbell passed away March 19, 2026, but her kindness and smile will never leave us. She was born July 3, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, and spent her life caring for her family, writing short stories and poetry, and lending an ear to those around her.
Frances taught for well over three decades, bringing energy and passion to her English and French classrooms. She was especially proud of her lessons on novels like The Scarlet Letter, hoping to instill her love of literature on her students at Our Lady of Providence High School. She also spent time as a teacher at Lincoln Middle/High School in Cambridge City, Indiana, Jeffersonville High School, and Charlestown High School, among others.
An avid reader, she spent her later years in life buried in books and sharing poems she wrote with her family and friends. She enjoyed a cup of coffee in the morning, snuggling with her dog, Nala, and chatting with her neighbors in New Albany. Frances loved doting on her grandchildren and resting peacefully at home with her husband, David. She also attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Central Christian Church, both in New Albany, where she found community, faith, and friendship.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Frances is survived by her husband, David Campbell, and their two sons, Ryan (Renee) and Evan (Brandyn). Her legacy continues through her six beautiful grandchildren: Jolie (Benjamin), Gabriella, Daniel, Taryn, Moira, and Callum. She is also survived by her brother, Michael Titus, and niece, Mikah, as well as her sister, Kathleen Reader (Dwayne), and nephew, Nathaniel.
A gathering and celebration of life for Frances will take place Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Parish House at St. Paul's EpiscopalChurch at 1015 E. Main St. in New Albany, Indiana, followed by a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2026. The funeral will occur at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Even through her final weeks, Frances was concerned for the well-being of others over herself. Her faith was unshaken, despite a litany of health issues. The only concern she expressed was leaving her family, which is impossible, as the only thing she left was a lasting mark on us all.
The family requests that contributions in her memory be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or Central Christian Church, the Kentucky Humane Society, or Doctors without Borders.
