Fonzie Delbert Geary passed away on August 24, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on January 23, 1946, Fonzie was a graduate of Valley High School and carried through life the spirit of a truly happy-go-lucky man. He was someone who found joy in simple pleasures and familiar traditions, and those who knew him will remember the ease of his company and the warmth of his presence.
He enjoyed spending his time fishing and hunting, pursuits that reflected both patience and appreciation for the outdoors. He also took pleasure in attending horse racing at Churchill Downs, and many quiet hours were happily spent watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Fonzie enjoyed bowling with his family and friends on their bowling league called Thursday Night Rebels. These everyday enjoyments formed the texture of a life lived with contentment, humor, and a genuine love for the moments that bring people together.
Fonzie will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by his daughter, Ronda Digges; his sons, Fonzie Scott Geary, Fonzie Delbert Geary II, Christopher Geary; his brothers, Daymond Geary and James Geary; his sister, Geraldine Gagle, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. In their sorrow, they also carry forward the many memories of his laughter, his interests, and the steady familiarity of a man who made an impression simply by being himself.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Flora Geary, and his father, Everett Geary.
Visitation will be held on August 29, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272. A memorial service will follow there at 4:00 p.m.
May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him and peace to all who gather to honor his life.
