Floyd "Hunter" Schanz, age 27, passed away peacefully at his home in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born October 9, 1994 to Floyd Schanz and Kristin Willoughby. Hunter had the voice of an angel. His singing career started at age 10 with the West Louisville Boys Choir. He attended the Youth Performing Arts School at DuPont Manual. This music love lead to a scholarship at Baldwin Wallace University. He was an avid outdoorsman and member of the Big Nasty Hunt Club, loved world travel and was a loyal friend. He was a fourth generation journeyman plumber and worked for Tom Drexler Plumbing, Air and Electric. Hunter had an amazing sense of humor and a contagious smile. He was a friend to everyone and passionate in his belief in making the world a better place. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Susan Schanz.
Hunter is survived by his grandparents, Jack and Martha Willoughby; parents, Floyd Schanz (Lisa) and Kristin Willoughby (Darren); sisters, Lauren Lemke (Alan) and Megan Bath; brother, Tim Bath; great friends and the adopted Cassaro and Jones families. His favorite relative though was his recently born nephew and godson, Jaxson Alan Hunter Lemke.
Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY. A visitation will also be held 1:30 to 3:30 pm on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in the Fireside Room at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Parkway, Louisville, Kentucky. A celebration of Hunter's life will be at 3:30 pm in the Chapel.
Memorials may be made to The Pete Foundation, 2323 Lime Kiln Lane, Louisville, Kentucky 40222, where Hunter was an avid supporter (special to Hunter because of the loss of his great friend Pete Jones).
