Flora Louise Priest, a cherished matriarch and devoted mother and grandmother, passed away on September 23, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 96. Born on January 26, 1929, in Georgetown, Kentucky, Louise lived a life marked by dedication to her family and a commitment to her career.
Louise worked for 26 years in the Finance Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison, where her skills and diligence shone brightly. However, it was in her personal life that her true legacy resides. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always nurturing their dreams and supporting their endeavors.
Louise is survived by her loving daughter, Krista Gilliam (Ronnie), and her sons, Matthew Priest and Peter Priest (Matthew Laukhuf), as well as her siblings, Martha Goodrich, Cora Ann Cooper, Linda Lou Oliver, and Ford Roberts. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will fondly remember her warmth and devotion.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Arvin Priest; her son, Mark Priest; her parents, Stewart and Sarah Pearl Roberts; and her siblings, John Roberts, Allen Roberts, Willard Roberts, and Betty Roberts. Each of these loved ones played a significant role in her life, and their memories will remain a part of her family’s story.
Louise spent the last three years of her life back in Kentucky, surrounded by the love and support of her family. Her life was a testament to compassion, resilience, and unwavering love, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243. All friends and family are invited to celebrate the remarkable life of Flora Louise Priest. Louise will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Arvin, in a private service at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN.
