Faye Marie (Wismann) Hammett, 85, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday morning, October 1, 2017. Faye will always be remembered for her feisty banter, her enthusiasm for the NFL and Peyton Manning, and her love for her children and grandchildren.
She was born on August 29, 1932, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Francis and Emma (Meriwether) Wismann. Faye was also preceded in death by her husband, Marquis Hammett, Sr.; and siblings, Harold and Guy Wismann.
Faye is survived by her children, Diane Strelka (Tom), Jude Hammett (Sue Sherrod), Mary Santo, Teresa Bizub (Dave), and Marquis Hammett, Jr. (Donna); sisters, Fern Loi and Bette Ann Wismann (Judy Eisele); 18 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Paul Campus, 218 Schellers Avenue, Sellersburg) with burial to follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
