Fannie Lee King, 91, of Prospect, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026. Fannie was a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. She had a strong faith in the Lord and was a dedicated member of Taylortown A.M.E. Zion Church where she had a passion for serving her church family in several positions. Fannie was a graduate of Lincoln Institute and continued her education at Kentucky State University where she earned her undergraduate degree. She went on to Indiana University where she earned her Masters Degree in Elementary Education. Fannie retired from Jefferson County Public Schools after spending countless years shaping the minds of her young students. She cherished traveling with her daughter and looked forward to the annual girls trip. Most importantly, Fannie cherished her family and the everlasting memories made with them. Fannie will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She was born on June 3, 1935 in Louisville, Kentucky to James and Cynthia (Trowell) Davis. She is preceded in death by her father, James Davis; mother, Cynthia Coreanor Davis; husband, George Nolan King, Sr.; and siblings, James Davis, Jr., Johnny Davis, Lawrence Davis, Mary Taylor and Sis Thornton.

Fannie is survived by her loving daughter, Joy Owens; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to cherish her loving memory forever.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Taylortown A.M.E. Zion Church, 10901 Ballardsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky. A celebration of her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at Taylortown A.M.E. Zion Church with burial to follow at Taylortown Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
