Evelyn Fannin Wash, age 87 of Lexington, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017. She was a former model and cosmetician, and also managed a hair salon in Lexington. Evelyn was a member of Castlewood Christian Church in Lexington and was former president of the Lioness Club from 1979-1980.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira J. Wash, Jr.; her son, Leslie Merrill Wash; her daughter, Judith Lynn Wash; her parents, Cecil and Malissa Margaret Conley Fannin; and 6 siblings, James Hutchinson, Mervel, William and Joseph Fannin, and Florence Smith and Jean Harris; also the niece of Alpha Hutchinson, the former President of Citizens Bank in Morehead, KY.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Julye Wash-Chesser (Jerry, who she always called him a son) and Jayne Diane Gore; grandchildren, Heather Lee Gore, Doug Gore, Jennifer Glass, Daniel Chesser; great-grandchild, Hannah Chesser; and a host of siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be 10am-12pm, Tuesday, January 10, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown, with service to follow at 12pm. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Jefferson Manor for their loving care and compassion for Evelyn. They lovingly called her Mrs. Hollywood and "Evi" for short, also one of the darling CNA's would often refer to her as her, "Princess".
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to Southeast Christian Church Pastoral Care.
