Evelyn Ann Riley, 81, of Mc Daniels, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Evelyn attended Hazelwood Elementary and graduated from Male High School. She worked at bank of St. Helens in Shively for several years. She was a devoted wife and stay at home mother, caring for her two children and nieces and nephews who lived near by. She was active in St. Denis Parish where her children attended and served in the lunch room of the school. She was a member of The American Legion Post 220 also in food service and Cardinal Stadium Concession. As a police officers wife for LMPD, she prepared countless uniforms for her husband John and was in the sisterhood of the policeman's wife. Evelyn and her husband john enjoyed their retirement at Rough River where they made countless new friends and she was employed at the "world's smallest walmart" in Hardinsburg. She joined the Rough River Chapter of the Red Hat Society and her circle of friends grew. She was generous with her time and friendship and was always ready to provide a laugh or home cooking to her friends and neighbors in the deer trail neighborhood. She was devoted to her four grandchildren and attempted to attend all of their events, graduations, and sporting events. Her family and extended family were honored to celebrate her 80th birthday Gala in 2023 and blessed to celebrate her 81st this year.


She was born on November 8, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky to Henry and Alma (Hinton) Epperson. She is preceded in death by her Father, Henry Lee Epperson, Mother, Alma Bell Epperson, Husband, John Steven Riley, Brothers, Henry Epperson, Donald Epperson, and Charles "Sug" Epperson.


Evelyn is survived by her loving family, Children, Stephanie Riley Garas and Trent Steven (Laura) Riley; Grandchildren, Jessica June Riley, Ian S. (Rachel) Garas, Luke P. Garas, and Adam B. Garas; Sister, Alma Faye (Gayle) Steele and Brother, Randall (Maritza) Epperson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, family, and friends to cherish her memory forever.


Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Her Funeral Service will be at 11:30 am on Tuesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (Central) in Radcliff, Kentucky.


The family requests that contributions in Evelyn’s memory be made to Crusade for Children.
