Eugene Smith, 73, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Eugene was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served as a military police officer.

He was born on December 18, 1952 in Manchester, Kentucky. Eugene is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Jean Smith; his parents, Aremildie "Millie" & Robert Edwards and Grover Smith; step-daughter, Lynn Sowders; and brother, Lester Smith.

Eugene is survived by his loving daughter, Natoshia Stegner (Clarence Hall); son, David Smith (Donna); grandchildren, Jerica Sowders and Trevor Money; brother, Earl Smith (Alice); sister, Wilma Caudill (Louis); and sister-in-law, Paula Smith.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Utica.
