Eugene H. Smith

Eugene H. "Gene" Smith, 94, of Louisville, KY passed into heaven on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. Eugene was born on June 29, 1924, Louisville, KY to the late James Franklin and Alpha Lee Smith. Gene was an Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the Downtown Rotary Club. He was retired from AAA, where he was the domestic travel director, a proud Kentucky Colonel and an avid golfer. He was a member of LifeBridge Christian Church. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Thelma Weller Smith; brothers, James Albert Smith and Leon Ray Smith.

Gene is survived by his loving children, Sandra L. Smith, Sheri L. Sexton (Rick), Ronald G. Smith (Linda), B. Dale Smith (Robin); 8 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.


Visitation will be 10 am to 12 pm on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243, with a Celebration of Gene's life to follow at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
