Eugene Roy Lilly

Eugene R. "Gene" Lilly completed his earthly journey on January 13, 2021, surrounded by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Kruer Lilly, and his children. He was born September 27, 1935, to Roy and Mary (Schmidt) Lilly of Navilleton. His father, Roy Lilly, passed away when Gene was 9 years old. His stepdad, Kent Rodman, married his mom when Gene was 11 and was a quiet constant in his life.
Gene retired as an electrician from Celanese Coatings after 40 years of service. He was very quiet about his faith, but he had been a loyal member of Holy Family Catholic Church since creation in 1954. He was known as a pillar of the Mt. Tabor Little League, where you would find him coaching his sons and, later, cheering on his grandsons.
Family was everything to Gene. He is survived by his wife; children, Jeffrey (Diane), Pamela Kraft (Joseph), Janine Kelty (Ralph), Patrick (Sarah), Mark (Brenda), and Amy Franklin (Corey); siblings, Vincent Lilly (Leatha), Rita Hunchman (Jim), Mary Alexander (Jerry), Karen Rodman (Doug), and Alan Rodman (Paula); 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and lots of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepdad, and son-in-law, Stephen Croucher.
It is never easy to say goodbye to the ones you hold closest, but heaven truly gained a genuine and loving man. He was so proud and loved the big family that he and Evelyn created. He showed us every single day how much he loved and supported each and every one of us. We will miss all the stories he told and cherish all the times we had with him. We will hold on to those memories forever. There is no time in heaven; life is only a blink of an eye, and we will all be there with him. We love you so much Gene, Dad, and Gramps!
