Eugene Joseph Koebel

Eugene Joseph "Gene" Koebel, age 71 of Greenville, Indiana, formerly of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 after a brave battle with cancer. He was an Army Veteran serving in Korea, and retired from mechanical sales after 30 years of service and continued to work at the Omni. Gene served as an usher for many years at Southeast Christian Church. He was an avid UofK fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Louis and Lucille Smith Koebel.

Eugene is survived by his loving daughter, Holly Detrick (Mark); grandchildren, Rachel and Daniel Detrick; sisters, Pat Clute (Dave) and Betty Westerfield (Curtis); brother, Kenny Koebel; signficant other, Susie Coleman; and Holly's mother, Dottie Koebel; many nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 pm Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Chapel in the Woods, 1407 Moser Road, Louisville, KY 40299, with a celebration of Gene's life at 5pm.
