Eugene Erskin Bowling Jr., 63, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026. He was born on February 17, 1963 in Frankfurt, Germany to Eugene and Erna (Swiersch) Bowling.
Eugene (Gene, Junior, J.R., dad, papaw) was a man who loved his family. He was a steady shoulder to lean on and the firm, caring voice that guided you when you needed it. His love was constant, honest, and protective. He was always there when it mattered most. To his family, he was someone you could call to talk, to vent, or simply to hear his voice. He gave comforting hugs and advice that stayed with you long after the conversation ended.
He was proud of the family he built. He shared a strong bond with his wife, Lisa, and embraced her daughter, Cassidy, as his own. Family to him was about showing up and being present for the people who mattered most. He will be remembered for his strength, honesty, humor, and the many ways he made those around him feel cared for. His family will carry his lessons, stories, and laughter with them always. He was a father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend—but to those who loved him most, he was simply Dad or Papaw. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
He is preceded in death by his Father, Eugene Erskin Bowling, Sr. and Mother, Erna Bowling.
Eugene is survived by his loving Wife of 20 years, Lisa Barbara McShane; children, Genia (Josh) Limbrick, Tia (Wes) Medley, Tabitha (Donaven) Huff, and Cassidy McShane; grandchildren, Alexis, Makayla, Chasity, Cash, AJ, Wrenly; great-grandson Waylon on the way; sisters, Victoria Anderson, Bobbi (Bob) Pettit, Anita (Edwin) Tyroch, and Jeannie (Larry) Massey, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends to cherish his memory forever.
