Esther J. Wells, 93, passed away on October 17, 2015. She was born on July 12, 1922 to the late Robert Lee and Inice (Brumfield) Johns.
Esther was a loving mother and grandmother and nursed herself and her children back to health in the 1950s from polio. Esther was a fun loving person who was always on the go and who always spoke her mind.
She was a court reporter in Shelbyville, KY, a branch secretary at 4th & Chestnut branch of First National Bank in Louisville, a secretary at Florida National Bank in St. Petersburg, FL and was an active member of Middletown Christian Church for many years where she volunteered with Frisky Folks.
She is also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Charles A. Wells, brothers Elbert, Robert, and Lucian Johns; sisters Cornelia Clarke and Mary Agnes Corman and grandson, Chester Brian Snapp.
She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Wells Snapp , Gainesville, GA; son, Andrew Lee Wells,(JoAnna), Marion, Illinois; brothers Creed Johns, Nicholasville, KY and Tom Welch Johns, Nicholasville,KY. Four grandchildren: Brent Snapp (Ashley)Jefferson GA; Elizabeth Snapp Elrod, Gainesville, GA; Benjamin Wells, Santa Barbara CA; Mallory Elizabeth Wells, New York, New York and four great grandchildren, Andrew Elrod, Gainesville, GA and Savannah, Joshua, and Elijah Snapp, Jefferson GA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive) from 10:00am until the time of her funeral service at 12:00pm with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Middletown Christian Church or Crusade for Children.
