Esther Kathyleen (Hall) Corrello, 92, became one with the Universe on 4 December 2019, following a brief confinement at the Hosparus Inpatient Center in Louisville, KY. A native of Letcher County, KY, she resided for the last years of her life at Brownsboro Park Senior Living Apartments in Louisville, near members of her family.
Esther was born on 22 November 1927 at Whitesburg, KY. She was the youngest of nine children of Alvin and Mary (Franklin) Hall. As a child of the Depression, she grew into the awareness and respect for family, faith, and hard work. Those lessons served her and her family well for a lifetime.
Esther was the mother, from her first marriage, of James Earl Mohn (1948-2005; widow, Rebecca "Becky" [Boggs] Mohn of Shelbyville, KY) and Dan C.Mohn (wife, Sharon [Gray] Mohn), of St. George Island, FL.
Esther's second, glorious marriage was to Frank Corrello in 1956. He predeceased her on 4 Jun 2008. From this union was born Myra Lynette Corrello (husband, Tim Webb), of New Orleans, who survives.
Esther was the proud grandparent of Richard (Donna) Mohn of Nicholasville; Melissa (John) Leeper of Shelby County; Erik (Laura)Mohn of Crestwood; and Kristen Mohn [1977-2015] (Michael) Dellaporta. Great-grandchildren Alex Leeper, Luke Leeper, Claire Mohn, and Evan Mohn also survive her. In addition, she left her "angel" former neighbors, Marion and Dorothy Clark and children, Tashina and Brian.
Esther was a member of 70 years' standing at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church in Whitesburg, where she was recognized as a Life Member of the Presbyterian Women. She also was a Sunday School teacher and Cub Scout den mother, as well as volunteer and spaghetti cook for countless Church and community events.
Esther was a great lover of both the outdoors and handicrafts. She loved gardening and the preservation and display of her fruit and vegetable produce. For years she created, in the fellowship of her Homemakers Club friends and others, beautiful quilts, paintings, baskets, and other artifacts. Just eleven days before her passing she was honored to share her quilts and other handiworks with fellow residents of her community at Brownsboro Park. And she rejoiced in the memories of picnics and hikes in the God-given beauty of her beloved Appalachian homeland, accompanied by family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, 8 December 2019, at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church in Whitesburg. Commital will follow at the Evergreen and Williams Cemeteries, Pine Mountain Junction, Whitesburg.
In lieu of flowers, friends may express their condolences with gifts to Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, Whitesburg, KY 41858 or to the Esther (Hall) Mohn Corrello Scholarship Fund, c/o Presbyterian Foundation, 200 E. 12th St., Jeffersonville, IN 47130.
