Ernest Allen Childress, 85, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Butler County, Kentucky on December 15, 1930 to the late Bloomer and Dovie Childress. He was retired from Shamrock Construction as a truck driver for over twenty years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Kathleen Childress; they had five children, Phyllis Ann Meredith, Ernest Robert Childress, Tammy Freibert (Travis), Melissa Scott, Monica Stephens (Kevin).He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Angela Scott, Allen Meredith, Somer Childress, Ashley Strange(Brandon), Lindsey Childress, Chelsea Mitchell (Robert), Destiny Freibert, Austin Scott, Dalton Childress Wheeler, Chelsea Freibert, Cadence Stephens, Trinity Childress, Landry Stephens and ten great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway. Visitation will be from Noon until time of service and following the service until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
