Emma Sue Taylor

June 4, 1933 — December 5, 2018

Sue Taylor, 85, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 with her loving husband of 65 years by her side. She was born on June 4, 1933, in Evansville, Indiana, to Charles and Helen Kavanaugh.

Growing up in Evansville, Sue followed her high school graduation by taking a job at Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Company. Shortly thereafter she met Robert "Bob" Taylor while studying at University of Kentucky, and in 1953 they were married, beginning their life-long journey together. Beginning with the birth of their first child, and with Bob's demanding travel schedule as a national and international television producer and director, Sue dedicated herself completely to raising all three of their sons. She then lovingly supported her sons in their adulthood, and their own families, for the remainder of her life. She was proud of her work in Texas as a medical office manager and certified phlebotomist, but her real passion in life was her family. Sue had an effervescent personality and never met a stranger. She was a long-time member of Walnut Street Baptist Church and more recently Southeast Christian Church. Sue was also a dedicated supporter of the Louisville Zoo. An avid fan of the University of Louisville Cardinals athletics, she also enjoyed instigating good-natured rivalries with the other family members who were University of Kentucky fans.

Sue was predeceased by her parents. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved sister: Vicki Kavanaugh Brown of Evansville, Indiana; three sons: Steven Taylor (Lori) of Louisville, Daniel Taylor (Nita) of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Richard Taylor (Laura) of Louisville; three grandchildren: Stephanie Stutzman (Jeremy) of Cape Coral, Florida, Jennifer Padilla (Armando) of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Ben Taylor of Louisville; and great grandchildren Star and Jonny Stutzman.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - noon on Friday, December 7th in the Fireside Room at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Parkway, Louisville, Kentucky 40243, with funeral service to follow. Burial will be held at Cave Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Norton Brownsboro Hospital's oncology care unit for their years of nurturing care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Norton Cancer Institute or The Louisville Zoo.
