Emma Sue (Cloyd) Hawkins, 82, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018. She retired from Pillsbury in New Albany after 23 years and was a member of Bunker Hill Christian Church. Emma enjoyed crafting and traveling, as well as dancing and singing. She was fond of hummingbirds and deeply loved her family and grandchildren.
She was born on September 12, 1935, in Campbellsburg, Kentucky. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Cantral Cloyd, Isabelle (Briley) Cloyd Adams, and Web Adams; siblings, Martha Botkins, Wayne Cloyd, Luke Cloyd, Donnie Adams, Noble Adams, and Mary Adams.
Emma is survived by her husband of almost 64 years, Roy Hawkins; children, Mike Hawkins (Karen), Debbie Wilkerson (Jerry), Sandy Carter (Robert), and Clinton Hawkins; siblings, Dorothy Davis, John Cloyd, Connie Jackson, Maxwell Adams, Lawrence Adams, Teresa Bond, and Vernon Adams; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Sunday after 12:00 p.m. Her Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Memphis, Indiana.
The family wishes to thank Emma's sister and best friend, Connie, for the love and care she showed to her over the years.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Emma's memory may be made to the family in care of the funeral home for distribution to the staff at Maple Manor Christian Home.
