Emerson Ray Baynard was born April 5, 1951 in Greencastle, IN to the late Walter James Bayard II, and the late Anna E. (Alvis) Baynard. Emerson accepted Christ at an early age with St. Paul Baptist Church. He graduated from Greencastle High School in 1968, where he a standout football player. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Turner out of that union they were blessed with two children Dana & Shane Baynard.
Emerson was a big fan of the Louisville Cardinals, he and his friend of thirteen years Ms. Verline Chatman an adamant U of K Wild Cat fan would have a talk about who would win the game, and what the final score would be. He also loved the Cincinnati Bengals win or lose.
Emerson went to his exercise classes Monday-Friday, on weekends he would listen to Sermons and Gospel singing. He loved going to see his grandson, birthday parties, family reunions, Christmas get togethers and just being with family. He was a good listener. Emerson had a kind and generous heart and was known to be a "Giver". When you asked him how he was doing he would always say, "I'm Alright", even if he was in pain. Now we can believe that he is alright, Amen.
Emerson preceded in death by his Son, Shane Baynard, Mother, Anna E. Baynard, Father, Walter James Baynard II, Stepmother Rosie Neal Baynard, Brothers, Walter James Baynard III, James Ricky Baynard, Albert Johnson, and Anthony L. Baynard.
Emerson is survived by his daughter Dr. Dana (Basilo) Harley, Grandson, Bryce Harley, Brothers, Timothy L. (Pattie) Baynard, Phillip A. (Yvonne) Baynard, Wayne (Iva) Baynard, Barry D. (Stephanie) Baynard, and Leon (Helen) Johnson, Sisters, Frances Black, Phyllis Woodford (Phillip Bizor), Rosamary (Michael) Clark, Patricia (Jerry) Prentice, and Janet Smith, Lavelle Smith, Sherita Hall, and Tracey Leonard (whom Emerson considered Granddaughters). Emerson also leaves behind to cherish his memory of host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Extended Family.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow in Green Meadows Cemetery. Due to COVID 19 mandates by the State of Kentucky. Funeral Services will be limited to 35 attendees, but visitation will be open to all.
