Elsie Pauline (Barger) Harrell, 72, of Greenville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020. She enjoyed camping and playing cards and deeply loved her grandchildren. Elsie sold Avon for many decades and was a life-time member of the VFW Post 1693 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was born on October 11, 1947, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Homer, Sr., and Stella (Murphy) Barger. Elsie was also preceded in death by her siblings, Larry Barger and Carol "Susie" Nall.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Gary Harrell; son, Kevin Barnes (Kelly); stepson, Gary Wayne Harrell; grandchildren, Kristy Shields (Chris), Keri Maggard (Nathan), Kyle Barnes, and Tiffany Meeker (Justin); great-grandchildren, Maddy Jo, Conner, Chase, Brayden, Kasen, Audrey, and Declan; siblings, Linda Baldwin (Dennis), Lois Summers (Dan), Mary Carlisle, David Barger (Nancy), and Homer "Mel" Barger, Jr. (Tammy); brother-in-law, James Nall; and sister-in-law, Rebecca Barger.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Veron Cemetery in New Albany.
