Elmer "Buster" Anthony Thomas, 83, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022.
Buster is survived by his mother Catherine Thomas; siblings Bill Thomas, Allison Horsley and Debbie Wilcoxson; 7 children: Tony (Pam) Thomas, Tom (Michelle LaFollette) Thomas, Laurie (Sam) Cosentino, Martin (Caralee) Witteveen-Lane, Melissa Lane, Todd (Kristin) Thomas, and Erin Thomas; 16 grandchildren: Candace Tow, Hillary Sullivan, Bryce Thomas, Kati Thomas, Ruby Thomas, Jojo Thomas, Sofia Cosentino, Dino Cosentino, Dylan Lane, Tim Lane, Ashley Saylor, Gracie Dennison, Summer Thomas, Lily Thomas, Liam Thomas, Riley Little; and 6 great grandchildren: Jackson Rudd, Bradlee Rudd, Layla Rudd, Miles Sullivan, Henry Sullivan, and Wyatt Lane.
Buster never met a stranger. He was a lover of life, greeting every day and activity with endless enthusiasm. His greatest passion was his family, but he was also a very successful and well-respected business owner. In his work as a remodeling contractor, he was known for his vast knowledge, eye for detail and high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Buster loved to tell stories of his youth in Jeffersonville, Indiana, his early career in the grocery business, and his service in the military. He was very generous and selfless, always putting other people first, and often helping others in need. He was known for his creative and often hilarious and elaborate nicknames, which he bestowed generously. He loved animals and children. He read voraciously, having a deep knowledge of history and current events.
Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
He is preceded in death by his wife, Clara Thomas, sister Jackie Estes, and granddaughter, Shelby Thomas.
